Schenectady Heritage Foundation Offering Stoop Repair Incentive Grants

This year, Schenectady Heritage Foundation is offering qualified property owners incentive grants to restore their front stoops. Many stoops were damaged by last winter’s unusual amount of ice. When water enters stone, brick or concrete stoops it can freeze, expanding into small cracks and crevices, leading to damage.

The grant program will be modeled after the Foundation’s brownstone and front door repair grants which were offered in previous years. Grants will cover one half the cost of repairs, up to a $1,500 maximum award (whichever is less).

Applicants must show proof of ownership, HDC approval (when required), and secure all necessary permits. Properties must have no outstanding code violations and taxes must be up to date. Three quotes from qualified contractors are required.
