Stockade Association Restarting Sidewalk Incentive Program
You may have noticed that the Walkabout was very successful this year and so was last year’s garden tour. As a result, the association has enough funds to make a difference with its incentive program. In the past, this program has offered small grants of up to $500 for exterior improvements such as painting, facade repairs and sidewalk replacement.
Since then, the city has started a Self-Assessment District (SAD) program that allows owners to replace damaged sidewalks with new ones at a reduced rate. SAD also allows owners to spread the cost out over a number of years.
The Association is looking into coordinating a sidewalk replacement program with the city’s SAD program. This would give homeowners additional savings on the cost of putting in new sidewalks. I think we can all agree that fixing our sidewalks is the most urgent need in the Stockade. The Association will have details available to neighbors soon. This program will only be open to members, so join the Stockade Association now!
