Stockade Villagers’ Outdoor Art Show 2026
The 75th annual Stockade Villagers’ Outdoor Art Show, now sponsored by the Stockade Association, will be held in Schenectady’s Historic Stockade neighborhood on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain date: Sunday, September 13, noon to 4 p.m.).
Pre-Registration Discount!! We are encouraging artists to pre-register, so artists will not have to congregate at the registration table on the morning of the show.
Registration fees are:
- Through August 22: $30 per adult artist and $5 per young artist (ages 8-18)
- Day-of Art Show: $40 per adult artist and $10 per young artist (ages 8-18)

There will be separate judging for the young artist category. Special fee for art groups: for multiple artists displaying with a gallery, etc., the fee is $15 per individual adult artist or $5 per young artist. To be eligible for judging, artists must pay the full (non-group) fee. All fees are non-refundable.
Important Information
Be prepared for inclement weather. If it is raining at 9:30 a.m., the show will be rescheduled for Sunday, September 13 from 12:00 to 4:00 (hour changes are to accommodate area church services). If it rains after 2:00 p.m. on the day of the show, the show is considered finished and will not be rescheduled.
Pre-show publicity: If you are interested in pre-show publicity on our Facebook page, email a short personal bio and 1 or 2 digital photographs of your work or of you working on a piece to StockadeArtShow@gmail.com.
Rules for Artists
Original works of fine art (including: drawings, paintings, sculpture, graphics, non-utilitarian textile wall hanging, and photography) may be displayed. Supplementary portfolios containing prints of your original artwork are permitted at your display area. We encourage sales.
- Artists are kindly asked to set up their exhibit areas on the sidewalk and not in the street.
- It would be appreciated if your work could be matted and/or framed.
- No crafts are permitted in this show (includes: sun catchers, jewelry, furniture, mugs, slate, t-shirts, postcards, bookmarks, notepaper, greeting cards, jugs, envelopes, etc.).
- No performing arts are permitted within the boundaries of the show.
Prize Awards
- First Prize: $1000.00 plus ribbon, sponsored by The Daily Gazette and Friends of the Art Show
- Second Prize: $750.00 plus ribbon
- Third Prize: $500.00 plus ribbon
- Nicholas J. Colangelo Award for a first time exhibitor in this show: $200.00
- James Gilliland/George Weinheimer Memorial Award: $100.00, provided by The Oakroom Artists
- Ernest A. R. Cohen Award, “Best of Stockade” artwork depicting the Stockade neighborhood: $100.00
- Best Depiction of the Human Form: $100.00, provided by Tuesday Evening Sketch Club at Union College in memory of Steven J. Hennessey
- Six Honorable Mention awards: $40.00 plus ribbon
- People’s Choice Award for favorite artist selected by public ballot: ribbon
- Young Artist Awards: First prize: $50.00, Second prize: $35.00, Third prize: $25.00, plus ribbons
Judging Format In order to qualify for your artwork to be judged, you must have an exhibit in the Art Show. Artists must display more than one piece of art work in their exhibit. Award presentation will be at approximately 3:00 p.m. at the circle. All winning artwork will remain on display at the circle throughout the afternoon.
