The Stockade Association

What We Do

The Stockade Association was founded in 1958 to protect, preserve and improve New York’s first historic district. We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that serves our community by:

  • Providing practical information and assistance to our neighbors.

  • Represents our neighborhood to the city, state, and federal governments.

  • Develops and manages improvements projects, like the Streetscape Plan, Flood Resilience Initiative, and Pump Station Redevelopment.

  • Hosts community events, like the Walkabout, Art Show, and Tavern Night.

  • Offers home-improvement grants to help maintain our historic neighborhood.

  • The Stockade Association also created and provided initial seed funds to the Schenectady Heritage Foundation, which provides discretionary grants to help preserve our neighborhood’s most vulnerable properties. For more information, contact:
